It goes without saying, but social media is an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to creating a brand presence and attracting new business. Are you making the most out of the various platforms though? To find out, keep reading.
You often hear people say that to lead a successful business you need to commit to a good social media strategy. What is a good social media strategy though? Mostly, it’s about preparation, planning, thoughtful execution and engagement.
Here are a few steps you should be following:
Step 1: Investigate each platform’s audience
It’s important to use your resources wisely. Research will help your business utilise its resources and know which platform will achieve the best engagement. As audiences are constantly shifting, constant research is necessary to achieve a better understanding of your audiences.
How you communicate on Facebook for example may be very different to how you communicate on TikTok. Know your audiences and understand how they use each social media platform.
Step 2: Post the right content!
After you’ve done a deep dive into the various platforms, you should now decide what type of content you want your target audience to see. This should be aligned with your business objectives. Various types of content include images, videos, polls and articles. Make use of more video!
Step 3: Observe your competitors closely
Keep a close eye on competitors that compete for the same target audience as your business. Take a look and work out the finer details, like how often they post, if they pay for their posts and which segment of their audience they attract the most. Every opportunity is a learning curve.
Try to work out the marketing strategy they are rolling out and tactically incorporate it into your own strategy (if successful).
Step 4: Engage!
Successfully managing a social media strategy means time. Make sure you have appointed a full time social media manager to not only post content, but also to keep a close eye on comments and general engagement. By engaging with the right people at the right time, you’ll slowly increase your following base and at the same time your own brand awareness.
