The 40th annual Stor-Age Pirates 10K will take place at Pirates Club on Sunday 05 August. The route of the popular running race will take participants through the leafy and historic suburbs of Westcliff and Parkview in Johannesburg.
An annual festivity
Every year, the area pulses with excitement and energy as runners and their families take part in the festivities of the event. This year, as the 40th edition of the annual event, the day is expected to be even bigger and better. The race starts and finishes at Pirates Club in Greenside. The scenic route includes wonderful moments such as running past the 100-year-old Parkview Golf course.
Despite the chilly weather that dominates August, Bradley Nelson, Race Director for Stor-Age Pirates 10K, claims the Stor-Age Pirates 10K as ‘Joburg’s warmest winter 10km’. The festive atmosphere on the route and at the finish contributes to this warm feeling. The race attracts some of Joburg’s fastest runners whilst also providing a platform for novices wanting to go further than a fun run.
Participants have the choice of entering either the 10km run or the 10km walk. The walk constitutes as an official CGA Walking league event.
Stor-Age as title sponsor
Stor-Age is proud title sponsor of not only this race, but the Pirates Club as a whole. In addition to sponsoring the event, Stor-Age will be managing both water stations, ensuring that the runners are well-hydrated.
Sponsoring sports teams, event and clubs, such as the Pirates Club, is a continually evolving focus for Stor-Age. They believe it to be a positive way to improve the community by striving to promote healthy lifestyle choices and encourage people to be active. At the same time, they are providing a valuable service with their offerings.
Online entries will have the option to collect their race numbers from their pre-selected Stor-Age store. This can be done on Thursday the 2nd or Friday the 3rd of August. These stores are conveniently located to allow runners to collect their race numbers before the weekend as to avoid the last minute rush of collecting their race numbers from Pirates Club on the day.
There are only 3,000 entries available so it is important to secure your entry soonest in order to avoid disappointment. As an added bonus, all entries will receive one month of free self storage with Stor-Age. For more information on entering the race, you can visit: www.entrytickets.net/stor-agepirates10k
