On your marks, get set…

It’s the final countdown for the annual Festival of Running, sponsored by South Africa’s leading self storage company, Stor-Age. It is set to take place on Saturday, 23 June, at SuperSport Park. The park is preparing for runners of all fitness levels to take part in this innovative, in-stadia festival. Over 2500 runners are expected to take part.

To ensure all participants enjoy a maximised experience, this 2 day festival has been compacted into one. Stor-Age has committed to a three-year title sponsorship in order to give the organisers an opportunity to grow the Festival of Running into an even greater success.

Whether you are a seasoned runner or still finding your feet, Stor-Age urges you to be part of the Festival of Running.

Fun for the whole family

What better way to do cardio, than running? Who better to run with, than your family? For that reason, Stor-Age encourages the running community and their families to join in the fun.

Internal excitement

According to Pierre Joubert, the Commercial Manager of SuperSport Park, they have already surpassed their expected interest in the festival. Hence, he has reason to believe that the attendance this time round, will be more than last year. Because of this, there is much excitement amongst the local community over the upcoming Festival of Running.

Chris Oosthuizen, Head of Sales, Marketing and Product for Stor-Age, explains: “ It was a natural fit for us to become involved in the festival of running event, as we are an existing stadium partner.” He added that they are constantly looking for ways to push boundaries. They are of a challenging nature and are always looking forward to involve themselves in the camaraderie of their local community.

Categories

The aim is to build a community of runners within the safe confines of the SuperSport Park. The festival consists of three race categories to choose from, namely the Solo Challenge, Relay and Schools Challenge.

The Solo

The solo challenge has 3 divisions tailored to push your physical limits, no matter your fitness level. The division consists of a 6km, 12km or 18km race. Above all, this race is ideal to challenge both amateurs and those who breathe to run.

Relay

Another division option is the relay. The divisions for relay are as follows: corporate, club and social. The relay challenge is perfect for fun with friends or even a corporate team building opportunity. A team of 4 qualifies for entry. The relay challenge consists of 10 laps in total. Participants will run in laps around the stadium and along the grass embankments to complete the 2km route.

Schools Challenge

Finally, the school challenge is divided into 2 categories, primary and high school. The aim of this challenge is to see how many laps a team of 4 students can complete, in the space of 2hours. Consequently, the teams to complete this challenge will be rewarded a medals to mark this achievement.
