The beginning

In 2012, New Wave Outdoor Media first noticed that there was a lack of availability of billboards in the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal due to legislation. They believed that cab advertising would offer a fantastic alternative to advertisers looking to launch effective marketing strategies in the coastal regions. This was the start of New Wave Outdoor Media.

Outdoor media has since become very popular. It offers broad exposure and high frequency and functions as an integral part of a 360 degree advertising strategy. New Wave Outdoor Media has evolved each year to keep up with the shifting space. They constantly come up with creative out-the-box ideas that complement the transit media.

Continuous growth

In addition to New Wave Outdoor Media’s expanded product range, they also opened up a Johannesburg office three and a half years ago. This has allowed them to target a new market. They have experienced 25% growth year-on-year for the past five years, executing massive campaigns for the likes of Caltex, Standard Bank, Pick ‘n Pay, KFC and Adidas just to name a few.

The innovative nature of the advertising industry has resulted in New Wave Outdoor Media constantly developing new creative offerings. They have tied in digital and social media with their Out of Home campaigns to show further return on investment and increased interaction with the target audience.

The future of transit media

Transit media is still a big focus for New Wave Outdoor Media, particularly cab campaigns. Cabs are highly effective as they do a high mileage of approximately 4 000 – 6 000 km per month. This makes them a cost-effective solution in the KZN and Western Cape regions. It is difficult to find quality available billboard space in these areas. Cabs are mobile and go where people want to go. This means advertising is always getting exposure in the right markets.

The advertiser is expected to continue to benefit from outdoor and transit media. The platforms offer huge exposure to the consumer target market in addition to an innovative and fresh approach.
